A night of live performances to honour and remember the late, great Chet
Baker featuring Lorne Lofsky, Artt Frank, Kirk MacDonald, Norm Amadio and
singer Danny Depoe. A unique tribute by musicians who played extensively
with Baker, this evening will include rare video footage from the Chet
Baker estate. With special guest of honour: Paul Baker (son of Chet
Baker)
Proceeds will benefit the University Settlement Music School.
Few musicians have embodied the romantic, and ultimately tragic, jazz
figure as totally as Chesney "Chet" Baker (1929-8
. Unschooled yet
eloquent in his music, and a fast liver who somehow managed to survive for
nearly six decades, the Baker mystique has only reinforced one of the most
haunting trumpet styles and ingenuous approaches to
jazz singing.
Scheduled Performances:
Lorne Lofsky's trio "Inside Out band" accompanied by
saxophonist Kirk MacDonald.
Norm Amadio's All Stars featuring
Chase Sanborn, trumpet , Steve Wallace,
bass, Rick Wilkins, tenor sax, Don Vickery, drums.
With special vocal guest performer Danny Depoe,
star of the hit theatre production TIME AFTER TIME: THE CHET BAKER PROJECT.
