ROCK OUT: Peoples Rocks The Factory
Review: CURTIS PEOPLES and The Weight play Hollywood’s Knitting Factory; maybe best show yet!

By REBECCA

Singer/Songwriter CURTIS Peoples performed at an industry showcase with his band The Weight; Dave Yaden (piano), Jason Gambill (guitar), Darwin Johnson (bass) and Mike Miley (percussion) Tuesday night at the Knitting Factory in West Hollywood.

Opening with a cover of “When Doves Cry”, infamous enough for any Prince fan to love, the audience was given a clear indication of what type of show they were in for; A true rock show. With no complaints of the $8 cover charge.

Seating was limited to the back wall – if anyone actually chose to sit - while the floor was nearly non-existent with the presence of the “Idol” crowd dancing and singing along to every tune. The “of-age” crowd was grabbed with Peoples’ newer songwriting collaborations, “Got What We Wanted”, “Hollywood Veins” and a Bon Jovi power ballad inspired “One More Time”. The fanatical knew every word, while the newbies caught on to Peoples’ infectious lyrics, smooth transitions and the flawless beats of The Weight.

Late into his set, Peoples brought up friend, fellow singer/songwriter Vic Fuentes of the band Before Today, for backing vocals and mandolin on an original, “Hope It Seems”. Peoples closed strong with the Beatles cover, “Have A Little Help From My Friends” with a little help from Fuentes on falsetto and guitar, leaving fans wanting for more.

With Hollywood in attendance Curtis Peoples can be most satisfied with his performance. However, one tip to this budding Rock Star: The pants can always be tighter.

Next Curtis Peoples & The Weight will perform on KPRI Streetside San Diego to be aired on NBC Friday 8/ 11

“Rock Out…and Stay A While” due for release mid-June.
